伊朗的伊斯兰革命、教宗若望保禄二世访问波兰、邓小平领导下的中国开放、玛格丽特·柴契尔引领英国转而投向新自由主义的怀抱，以及苏联入侵阿富汗，这些只是1979年发生的部分重要事件。四十年来，这些事件的影响比以往任何时候都更加明确：中东持续不断的危机、恐怖势力的扩大、中国迅速崛起成为世界强权、无所不在的英国脱欧问题，以及欧盟在世界上的地位。《1979：改变世界的那一年》将1979年发生的全球政治事件与现今的政治生态连结在一起，造就一部充满张力且鑑古推今的纪录片。

　　What could the fate of the Villa Empain, Baron Empain’s crazy project in Brussels, which has gone through a long and eventful journey since its completion in 1934, possibly inspire? Katharina Kastner’s challenge was to draw the portrait of the place, keeping in mind the work of time, like in a human existence. Shot in 16mm, her film appeals to the senses, it captures the stirring of leaves undulating in the garden light, the movement of iridescent pearls, or the colourful games of
a piece by Daniel Buren. Without a word, but with a caressing camera, she pays close attention to the hidden patterns on the gorgeous marbles, or to the veins in the most precious types of wood used to decorate the rooms. In slight touches, regardless of the monumental aspect of the 27.000 square-feet villa and the pool that so impressed its first visitors, Katharina Kastner o ers an organic vision of the place, which has been marked by the trials and tribulations of life, and used successively as a museum, an embassy and a squat, until its final renovation. The clever editing makes furtive connections, underlines colour associations, mixes up times and tactile sensations, while the spaces we explore keep rustling. The film takes us on a reminiscing journey, with slices of Empain’s life, from the family archive here on a holiday, there playing on the beach, images from a distant past that keep haunting the premises. The film reveals to us this living space that was designed like a piece of art, but it does so in a wandering way. This dream vision guides us through the villa like an echo of foregone fantasies, a mental space, but also a welcoming backdrop for the work of time. A bit like the fingerprint work we see in the film, or the slight touch of a pencil on a blank sheet.

　　For two years BBC cameras have followed, Dr Sheperd Doeleman of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and the work of the Event Horizon Telescope project team, a collective of the top scientific minds from around the world. The project combines radio observatories and telescope facilities from around the world to make up a virtual telescope with a diameter spanning the entire planet. This mega-telescope’s ultimate mission is to capture the first image ever of a black hole. Although the concept of black holes has been long assumed to be fact, the Event Horizon Telescope’s success would definitively prove the existence of this scientific phenomena for the first time – and provide clear visual evidence.
　　The programme brings viewers into the laboratories, behind the computer screens and beside the telescopes of what may prove to be one of the great astrophysical achievements in human history.

　　曾以紀錄片《起點》、《我無罪，我是鄭性澤》長 期關注司法議題的導演李家驊，這次選擇了三位犯 行各異的死刑犯為主角，有人尚在服刑，有人在獄 中自戕身亡，有人已遭到槍決伏法。在「殺人償命」 的正義大纛前，他們的命運殊途同歸，宛如報廢的 物件，但在律師、死囚家屬面前，標籤之後卻是一 個個血肉之軀。全片以平實的採訪片段與報導影像， 不拘泥於法條本身，而是深刻表達了導演對「人」 的處境的關懷，爬梳現代台灣司法死刑史之餘，也 引出了對現行體制的叩問。

　　本片无疑是专属于这个时代的纪录片。在这个各种新媒体不断涌现的时代，人们接触讯息的管道前所未有的纷杂，各种「假新闻」或「另类事实」（alternative fact）的星火满天飞，引发话题在全球延烧。随著媒体日益分化，以及社群媒体掌握讯息散布管道，政治宣传在其中扮演了什麽样的角色？它如何默默影响世界秩序的转变？
　　这部纪录片将揭发那些寻求权力的人，如何透过政治宣传手段达到其目的。导演除了分析当前的政治社会情境，同时也爬梳了政治宣传的历史，回顾过往历史上几个关键时刻，揭露当时政治宣传如何被当成巩固国族及控制人群的工具。就当今的情势而言，本片绝对是一则必要且警世的寓言。
　　政治宣传的发展历史源远流长，并且经常与时俱进。从远古时期的洞穴岩画，到西斯汀教堂的壁画，再到推特上的针锋相对，政治宣传运用各种形式的媒体，来动摇、威逼、恐吓人民。人们被谎言或半真半假的消息喂养著，然而他们往往对此类讯息飢不择食。险恶的威胁和不切实际的诺言，这些不断高升的情绪诉求，完全压制了理性思考的声音。当谎言推翻了真相，便成为了新的现实，半真半假的讯息在狂言妄语中不断被散布，真实就再没有被讨论的空间。政治宣传本身是无害的，但这项工具一旦落入最恶名昭彰的煽动者手中，后果将是致命的。

　　In May and June 2018, Jean-Gabriel Périot collaborated with ten students in a film class at a high school in Ivry-sur-Seine on a project that unites cinema with politics. The students worked both in front of and behind the camera, restaging scenes of strikes, resistance, and labour disputes from films dating from the late 1960s to the late 1970s, including ones by Jean-Luc Godard and Alain Tanner. Nos défaites assembles the results, and adds interviews in which the director queries the students about the scenes they’ve just acted in, about such concepts as “class,” “labour union,” and “political engagement,” about wider social contexts. It’s a simple, yet trenchant setup, affording viewers a glimpse of how a younger generation sees politics and the political cinema of the past. The film also documents the director’s attempts to stir up the students. The conversations vary between encounters in which director and students seem on an equal footing, based on more teacher-like questioning by the never-visible director, and contemplations of revolution in the here and now: the performance of an uprising follows reflection upon the same. Could this lead to one happening for real?

Our Defeats, or do we keep enough forces to confront ourselves with the chaos of today?

　　一位北韓女子因病尋醫，在非自願的情況下，輾轉來到了南韓。她朝思暮想著在平壤的家人，但返回家鄉的期盼，卻在一次次的抗爭、訴訟與向使館求助中落空。日子一年年過去，她甚至見證了南北韓領袖握手破冰的歷史一刻。她不是所謂的「脫北者」，但南北韓間的政治情勢卻讓她回不了家。

　　该片也是70岁的斯普林斯汀的最新专辑的同名电影，他与《斯普林斯汀在百老汇》的导演Thom Zimny一起执导，聚焦他如今的生活、心态和对音乐和舞台的感悟，还有他那有100年历史、“充满灵性”的谷仓，他如何回头和向前看，“我花了35年除掉自己性格中那些毁灭性的东西”。

　　有一种声音驱使我们回顾那伟大的「曾几何时」；有一种声音贯穿了整部纪录片。我故意不在片中发表任何评论。那声音不是在评论画面或历史；恰恰相反，它在倾诉历史。
　　
　　我使用了各国数据来回顾战争、福特主义、边缘都市化或政治演说。我使用《美国生活方式》（American way of life）的宣传档案，呈现反共的美国如何宣扬资本主义和消费主义的优点。我同时也使用业余影片，这些影片是社会学文献，是集体想象的一部分。这些影像的作者不详，内容谈论着我们和几个世代之前的人们。最后，我使用二十世纪上半叶的电影画面。这些片段帮助我呈现画面甚少、或是没有图像的时代（煤炭工业、十九世纪的采矿工作）。
　　档案画面的作用不在阐释，而是呈现各个不同时期。观众将随之回溯过去的点滴，欣赏其美学、氛围、声音、音乐和演说。
